This delicious cinnamon apple bread, topped with a sweet vanilla glaze, is perfect for a cozy breakfast or a delightful dessert. It’s easy to make and filled with the warm flavors of cinnamon and apple.
Ingredients:
For the Bread:
- 1/3 cup of brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 apples (preferably a sweet type like Honeycrisp or Gala), peeled, cored, and chopped
- 2/3 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk or cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Preparation:
Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Pan:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Prepare the Apple Mixture:
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- In another bowl, toss the chopped apples with 2 teaspoons of the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture until they are well coated. Set aside.
Make the Batter:
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until smooth and creamy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then mix in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
Assemble the Bread:
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Sprinkle half of the apple mixture over the batter, then top with half of the remaining brown sugar-cinnamon mixture.
- Pour the remaining batter over the apple layer, top with the remaining apple mixture, and sprinkle with the remaining brown sugar-cinnamon mixture.
Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
Prepare the Glaze:
- While the bread cools, mix together the powdered sugar, milk (or cream), and vanilla extract (if using) in a bowl until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add a little more milk until it reaches a drizzling consistency.
Finish and Serve:
- Once the bread has cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.
- Allow the glaze to set before slicing and serving.
Enjoy this delightful cinnamon apple bread with a cup of coffee or tea, or serve it as a sweet treat for any occasion!
