  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Mushroom Gravy:

  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 2 tbsp water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Steaks:

  1. In a bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4-6 oval patties.

Brown the Steaks:

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove and set aside.

Make the Mushroom Gravy:

  1. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté until they are soft and golden.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing to a simmer.
  4. Slowly stir in the cornstarch mixture, and continue to cook until the gravy thickens.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Combine and Cook:

  1. Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them.
  2. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes or until the patties are cooked through.
  3. Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.

Serve:

  1. Serve the Salisbury steaks with a side of mashed potatoes and steamed green beans for a complete meal.
