Instructions for Making Amish Cinnamon Bread
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two loaf pans.
- Prepare the batter: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, 2 cups of sugar, and eggs. Then, mix in the buttermilk, flour, and baking soda until combined.
- Layer the batter: Divide half (or slightly less) of the batter between the two greased loaf pans.
- Cinnamon-sugar topping: In a separate small bowl, mix together 2/3 cup of sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. Sprinkle 3/4 of this mixture on top of the batter in both pans.
- Final layer: Add the remaining batter to the pans, then sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top. Swirl the batter gently with a knife to create a marbled effect.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Let the bread cool in the pans for about 20 minutes before removing. Slice and enjoy!
