Peach Cobbler Recipe
Ingredients
- For the peaches:
- 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (or canned peaches, drained)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- For the batter:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Optional topping:
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the peaches:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the peaches, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes until the peaches soften slightly. Set aside.
- Prepare the batter:
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the milk and melted butter, stirring until smooth.
- Assemble the cobbler:
- Pour the batter evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spoon the peaches and their juices over the batter. Do not stir; the batter will rise around the fruit during baking.
- Add topping (optional):
- Mix sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the top.
- Bake:
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the cobbler is golden brown and bubbling.
- Serve:
- Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving. It’s perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
