If you love the rich, savory flavors of French onion soup
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef
- 1 packet (1 oz) onion soup mix
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup caramelized onions (about 2 onions, sliced and cooked until golden)
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (divided)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix ground beef, onion soup mix, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl until well combined.
- Fold in half of the caramelized onions and ½ cup shredded Swiss cheese.
- Shape into a loaf and place in a greased baking dish or loaf pan.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until cooked through (internal temp of 160°F).
- Top with remaining caramelized onions and Swiss cheese. Bake for another 5 minutes until cheese melts.
- Rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Note : For extra flavor, try using a mix of ground beef and ground pork. You can also add a splash of beef broth to keep the meatloaf extra juicy. Want a crispy topping? Broil for 2-3 minutes after adding the cheese!
Would you serve this with mashed potatoes or something else?
